MacLean Hockey is an Athletic Development firm that specializes in on and off-ice Hockey training.
MacLean Hockey is a conglomerate of highly experienced and certified coaches, skill instructors, scouts, trainers and mentors, dedicated to providing athletes with a positive training environment and guidance based on optimal physiological training methods and full spectrum athletic development.
Our commitment and our goal is to provide athletes with the best possible training and mentorship at the best possible timing for each individual.
LEAD INSTRUCTIONAL TEAM
Ross MacLean
President/Coach/Scout/Mentor
A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ross MacLean has travelled the world playing, coaching, scouting and learning the game of hockey. Ross has done work or worked for the IIHF, Hockey Canada, various international federations, national and provincial U18, U17, U16 and U14 programs and has worked as a professional skills coach with players from all ages and levels, including pros and NHL players.
Dean Seymour
Skills Coach/Instructor
One of the best (mostly) hidden gems in Western Canada, Dean Seymour has parlayed a solid playing career, that saw him play in several European leagues after displaying his offensive prowess in the SJHL and NCAA, into a highly accomplished tenure as a skill and player development coach. Dean has worked with players from all levels, including the WHL’s Regina Pats and Team Canada’s U17 program and loves to share his elite knowledge of skill development, especially his bread and butter – creating goals.
Svend Wiele
Skills Coach/Instructor
Orginally from the Eastern side of the wall in Berlin, Svend grew up in a tale of two times in his native Germany. Despite the odds, Svend progressed his way through the German hockey ranks, eventually representing the nation at several IIHF events and finding his way onto rosters of Germany’s top level teams. In the 2000’s Svend found his way to Calgary and began working as a skills coach, having worked with a variety of programs, including Hockey Canada’s development programs. Svend is not only a world class skills coach but has taken on personal/life coaching certifications as well, making him a high level coach players can connect with and learn from on a variety of levels.
Spencer Barlow
Skills Coach/Instructor
A young and enthusiatic coaching talent, Spencer has travelled the world seeking opportunities and experiences to help him grow. He is well known in the skill coaching circles as a reliable go-to coach for programs from beginners to pros. Spencer has a creative mind, capable of adjusting to each individual player’s needs during sessions and mixes high level training methods with passion and fun, allowing him to optimize training techniques for everyone. Spencer has experience coaching and playing in the minor hockey streams, European divisions and is currently involved with the US Collegiate ranks at Maryville University.
Hanna Bunton

Mike Marshall
Skills Coach/Instructor
A graduate of the prestigious Vierumaki Coaching Institute at the IIHF Centre of Excellence, Mike brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from the European coaching streams, having worked in Finland, Sweden, Slovenia and Australian pro hockey. A native of Calgary, Mike brings an energetic and fun outlook to sessions with tremendous passion for long-term athletic development pathways and pure joy for the game. Mike’s leadership and passion for youth development have him with his sights on obtaining his Education Degree.
